Abstract

The purpose of this study is to adapt the ‘Teacher Activity Scale for Promoting Physical Activity in the Classroom’ developed by Centeio and colleagues (2022) into Turkish and to conduct validity and reliability analyses. The sample of the study consisted of 410 classroom teachers working in different regions of Turkey. The translation-back translation method was applied during the adaptation process of the scale, expert opinion was obtained, and a pilot study was conducted. As a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), a three-factor structure (student barriers, institutional barriers, educational barriers) was obtained for the scale. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) validated this structure, showing excellent fit indices (χ²/df = 1.03; RMSEA = 0.008; CFI = 0.98; TLI = 0.97). The Cronbach's alpha values of the scale ranged from .77 to .90, indicating a high level of reliability. This scale aims to measure primary school teachers' self-efficacy regarding their confidence in providing physical activity during the school day. The findings indicate that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool in Turkish culture and contributes to determining teachers' competence in integrating physical activity.
