Bu projenin amacı Yeni İpek Yolu Projesinin bölgesel ve küresel anlamda etkileri incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; Yüzyıllar boyunca Batı ile Doğu arasında önemli bir ticaret ve ulaşım ağı olan İpek Yolu'nun yeniden canlandırılması için 1991 yılından bu yana pek çok proje ile gündeme gelen ve 2013 yılına gelindiğinde “Kuşak Yol Projesi” mottosuyla ortaya konulan Yeni İpek Yolu Projesi, o günden bu yana Pekin'in en önemli dış politika hedeflerinden biri olmuştur. Asya ile Avrupa arasında yeni bir ekonomik köprü olması beklenen Proje, siyasi, ekonomik ve kültürel kazanımları ile çok yönlü bir stratejik girişimdir. Pekin'in özellikle 2000'li yıllarda izlediği çok yönlü dış politikanın mihenk taşlarından biri olduğu söylenebilecek bu proje sayesinde Çin, daha önce etkin olmadığı ülkelerde daha etkin bir güç olmayı hedeflemektedir. Ayrıca bu proje, ABD'nin tek kutuplu dünya sistemine karşı Çin'in son dönemde izlediği politikaları da desteklemektedir. Yeni İpek Yolu Projesi, ABD hegemonyasına ve tek kutuplu dünya sistemine bir başkaldırı olarak değerlendirilmektedir.
