Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of democratic attitudes of school principals on teachers' perceptions of individual performance. Relational survey model was used in the study and teachers working in Gaziantep province constituted the population. As a result of the research, it was determined that teachers perceived the democratic attitudes of school principals at a moderate level; there was no statistical difference in teachers' perceptions of democratic attitudes of school principals according to their gender; teachers with 1 - 5 years of professional experience perceived democratic attitudes and behaviours higher than the groups with 6-10 years and 16 years and more professional experience; there was a significant and positive relationship between democratic attitudes of school principals and teachers' perceptions of individual performance. In addition, democratic attitudes and behaviours of school principals positively affect teachers' individual performance.
