Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between teachers' perception of place of residence and life satisfaction according to different demographic variables. In addition, the main purpose of the study is to examine the effect of teachers' perception of place of residence on life satisfaction. The study was designed as a relational survey and the study group consisted of teachers working in Ankara province. According to the results of the research; life satisfaction of teachers is below average and perception of place of residence is above average. It was found that teachers' perception of place of residence and life satisfaction did not change according to male and female; it was not affected according to undergraduate and postgraduate graduates; it did not change according to age; it did not change according to married and single in the perception of place of residence, but married teachers perceived more life satisfaction than single teachers. According to their professional experience, it was concluded that the groups of 16 - 20 years and 21 years and over exhibited a higher perception of place of residence than the group of 11-15 years, and the group of 16 years and over perceived higher life satisfaction than the groups of 6-10 years, 11-15 years and 21 years and over. In addition, it was found that life satisfaction and the perception of place of residence did not change according to the place where the teachers lived. In the case of ownership of the house, it was concluded that the group living in the lodging house exhibited a higher perception of place of residence compared to the other groups and the group that said it belonged to me perceived higher life satisfaction than the group that said it was rented. There was a significant and positive relationship between teachers' perception of place of residence and general dimensions of life satisfaction. Finally, it was found that teachers' perception of place of residence positively affected their life satisfaction.
